Here's Why Clarendon is the Bro-iest Neighborhood in DC
Clarendon, Virginia, continues to rack up the accolades although this latest ranking as one of the "Bro-iest Neighborhoods" in the country is dubious at best. Lifestyle Website Thrillist recently released its list of "America's 12 Bro-iest Neighborhoods." Don't ask us why they selected 12 vs. the usual 10 or 5 -- maybe there were just two many "bro-towns" from which to choose. In any event, Clarendon came in at number 10 with Murray Hill in New York City and Uptown in Dallas, numbers 1 and 2, respectively.
Definition of a "Bro"
While varying definitions of "Bros" exist, the Urban Dictionary gets right to the heart of the matter by calling bros "obnoxious partying males." That's right -- and Clarendon is home to a lot of them -- especially as a temporary place of residence right out of college. Thrillist clarifies:
"…it's where all the fresh-outta-school bros show off the extra cash before moving to Manhattan to work in finance and be closer to family in Connecticut."
Where the Bros Go
As the heart of Arlington, Virginia's, nightlife and home to a number of trendy dining spots, Clarendon's ranking is not all that surprising. Add in its close proximity to Georgetown right across the Key Bridge and collection of luxury and conveniently located condos, it's easy to see why Clarendon is something of a "Bro Magnet." When Bros are doing their thing, they typically congregate at several of Clarendon's hot spots, including:
A-Town, 4100 N Fairfax Drive
A popular sports bar for football, hockey, and basketball games as well its hearty Sunday brunch buffets -- perfect for the bro on a budget.
Arlington Rooftop Bar and Grill, 2424 Wilson Boulevard
Spacious bar & grill with an upscale pub menu, signature cocktails, TV sports & live music.
Whitlow's on Wilson, 2854 Wilson Boulevard
Take advantage of all you can eat crab legs on Tuesdays, listen to live music on the rooftop tiki bar, hang with the other 20/30 somethings and ride a bull to impress your fellow bros….
