Washington D.C. and surrounding areas, such as Arlington, Virginia, host a full schedule of county fairs in the months of August and September. A brief summary is below:
Arlington County Fair - August 7th to 11th

Prince George's County Fair - September 5th to 8th
Happening at the Prince George's County Equestrian Center and the Showplace Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, you'll find carnival rides, live entertainment, food, fireworks, live animals and a family circus at this fair.
Anne Arundel County Fair - September 11th to 15th
Come to the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds in Crownsville, Maryland, to enjoy carnival rides, games, farm animals, monster trucks, a pie-eating contest, talent show and much more.
