Washington DC Row Houses
As the population of DC exploded in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, row houses were the housing style of choice in many neighborhoods across the city. Many of these emerging neighborhoods were developed in the path of the street car lines that were common on the District’s main thoroughfares.
DC row houses come in many architectural styles and with a wide variance in living space. Row houses in the earlier developing neighborhoods like Georgetown and Capitol Hill are often narrow with a smaller footprint as compared to the grand row houses that were built later in Dupont Circle and Kalorama. Row houses on the main transportation corridors were often built to a grander scale than row houses on secondary neighborhood streets.
Many of the District’s row houses have been been renovated and returned to their former grandeur, while opportunities do exist for those interested in a renovation or restoration project. Our team truly enjoys helping clients discover the perfect DC row house to meet their budgetary and lifestyle goals.
