Parkview Real Estate

Park View is a quiet, residential neighborhood north of Howard University in the northwest quadrant of Washington, DC.  The community derives its name from the lush views over the campus of the Old Soldiers’ Home, the grounds of which were once open to the public as a park rivaling Central Park in New York.  As with many other DC neighborhoods, Park View is benefiting from gentrification – especially the revitalization along Georgia Avenue, its one commercial corridor.  Increasing interest has resulted in a number of new restaurants and taverns opening as well as a CVS.   In fact, much of Park View’s appeal lies in its strategic location that gives residents easy access to the Downtown, Maryland, hospitals, Howard University and the many recreational amenities within Rock Creek Park.

The housing stock in Park View is largely in the Wardman tradition – “front porch row houses” that can be seen on many blocks in the area.  With lots of surrounding greenery, Park View is now home to several community gardens, which have helped to unite the neighborhood as well as grow fresh produce.  The Recreation Center on Otis Place recently underwent a facelift as well, adding new basketball courts, a soccer field and playground structure.

Park View  is bounded by New Hampshire Avenue and Rock Creek Church Road to the north, Park Place and Irving Street to the east, Hobart Place and Harvard Street to the south and Sherman Avenue to the west. Park View is served by the Georgia Ave - Petworth Metro Station.
